(Norwalk, CT) – On June 23, 2023, Mayor Rilling and Norwalk Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Estrella released the following statement regarding a video capturing a group of youth on a Nathan Hale Middle School field making racist remarks circulating on social media.

"While the City’s Recreation and Parks Department has confirmed that this group of youth was not associated with the City of Norwalk or Norwalk Public Schools, we strongly condemn the racist language they used displayed in a video circulating on social media. The hateful, racist language used was disgusting and is never welcome in our community. The City and Schools are working together to find these individuals in hopes of having a conversation with them about appropriate behavior while utilizing any of our public facilities.”
